History of the Doll faced Persian
Modern day Iran is considered to be the native country for the doll faced Persian. In their early days Persian cats were actually known as Asiatic or Turkish Angoras. It was only after their advent into the European continent that they came to be known as Persian cats.
It was back in the 1800’s that the Turkish Angora made its way into Italy. During its early days the Doll faced Persian became extremely popular amongst the European elite. The doll faced Persian had been popular amongst the royalty of Persia from before and soon become a hot favorite amongst the English aristocracy.
It was in the nineteenth century that the Italians began to experiment with cross breeding the Persians to produce new types of cat. It is from here that different patterns and colors were born and the coat of the Persian became longer and much silkier.
Structure of the Doll-Face Persian
The doll face Persian is available in two main varieties. One is known as the Peke faced variety and is characterized by its flat face. This is the one that mostly makes it to the shows. The face of the doll face is characterized by its protruding mouth and nose which are situated at a considerable distance from the eyes. However they retain the characteristic pansy look of the Persian.
The doll faced Persian has a rather chubby built. It stands upon short legs that hold up its stocky structure. It is known to possess a broad and deep chest with relatively broad shoulders. The doll faced Persian has a rather muscular toned body and will very rarely be overweight.
The coat of the doll face is extremely thick with long hairs. The doll face has a fine texture to its coat which tends to have a glossy appearance.
The spectrum of coat colors for the doll faced Persian is rather extensive. You will be able to find the tabby, shaded and smoke, silver and golden, Himalayan, parti color and the calico and bi color in the solid color division.

The doll faced Persian has a character to match its appearance. They are known to possess an extremely gentle nature the sweetness of which is further magnified by their doll face. They like to live in serene and secure environments and require a lot of love and care in order to become comfortable in their new environment.
