Toilet Training Persian Cats

Many with cats would love to get rid of the smell of their cat litter. This can be even more overwhelming when there is a male that is not neutered. Male cats that are used for breeding will have a stronger smell to their urine as they are scenting their territory. Toilet training a cat, especially a male that is being bred, will lessen the strong cat urine smell in a home considerably.

It just isn’t possible to let your male feline go outside whenever he needs to go to the bathroom. This will cause your yard to start smelling when he marks it all as his territory. When a male cat is marking his territory, your gardens and shrubbery can be ruined, along with your house having a foul odor. This doesn’t take into account the fact that your male cats might affect the female cats you own. It is ideal to keep the male cat indoors so he will not go on mating with female cats in the neighborhood and making many kittens.

Toilet training a cat, even an older tom cat, is quite easy if you have patience. When you toilet train a cat, the older the cat is, the longer it will take. This is not a huge amount of time, but younger cats will catch on a bit quicker. You can start toilet training a cat by putting their litter box in the bathroom.

A good idea if you have two restrooms is to use one for the humans in the house and one to train your cat with. Your cat will grow accustomed to going into the restroom to use their litter box. It might be advisable to put the litter box as close to the toilet as you can get it.

It can be helpful, after you get the cat used to the bathroom, if you have a small stool that you can set the litter box on top of. This will help your cat accustomed to jumping up to get in the litter box. The next thing you need to do when toilet training a cat is to have the cat use the litter box instead of the toilet.
